When it’s time for your new roof, you probably wonder, exactly what will I be told by the many contractors who will either leave you an estimate in your mailbox ,give you a price by phone, or take up your valuable time listening to a presentation specifically required by the company they represent ? All may a good way for you. They may not all contain the necessary steps that are required and what you will be paying for.
My intention here is to explain the basic installation steps in the process of installing your roof.
here are the steps:
remove existing roofing materials from your roof deck ,check for rotted wood and replace if needed, re nail loose boards, install ice and water shield , install water proofing underlayment past the ice and water shield so that all of the roof deck is water proof. Next install proper ventilation based on the architectural style of your roof construction, re lead chimneys, install additional proper flashing at walls, dormers etc. , re flash existing skylights and and any vent pipe protrusions, install 8 inch drip edge, install roofing materials of your choice and colors available once you have been shown samples of the best roofing manufacturers, and their respective warranties.
There is a lot of ground to cover here and an explanation should be part of every step. I will go over all of this with you.
